I have always been serious about taking care of my hair, skin and body. However when I began examining my hair care journey in detail I realized that there were issues that would crop up again and again. Why am I getting single strand knots again? Why is my hair dry as a bone again, I would ask myself? I kept making the same mistakes - sometimes even doing processes or buying products that had absolutely not worked in the past. It is then that I realized I needed a hair journal. Nothing detailed, I just began jotting down online or on a piece of paper what worked and what didn't. At one point I was even noting combinations of products that worked or didn't. This information became indispensible as I soon determined some major things about my hair. For instance: 1. I am protein sensitive - Youtube videos espousing Aphogee this and Keracare that were met with disdain instead of a trip to the store. As you can imagine an ingredients journal can help product junkyism all but disappear. 2. Heavy silicones turn my hair into a dry medusa mess. I would never have discovered this trend without my product journal. 3. My hair loves co-washing - I was able to track this practice and note that it caused my hair to thrive and it also reduced breakage. These are just the tip of the iceberg! If you are serious about your hair care journey and want to achieve lengths unknown start a simple hair diary and jot down what you did, what felt good and what just didn't work. A great way to do this is to simply have an online journal or notepad that is easily accessible. As you start to note trends you will be on your way to establishing a regimen that is perfectly tailored to you!
