Stop any African American chica on the street who has reached BSL or longer and ask her secrets.  Without a doubt she will mention some form of damp bunning.  Damp bunning is the most effective way to maximize moisture and protect your ends at the same time.  It is a double treat!  Maximum moisture levels can be retained on hair that is moisturized and sealed in this damp state then tucked away.  The moisture that has penetrated deep into the hair shaft is then locked away there for an extended period - enhancing flexibility and elasticity.  Tressbuzz likes to think of the damp bun as an incubator for hair:  ends are tucked against the head creating a warm, moist environment in which strands can thrive and be kept out of harms way!  Best of all damp bunning is the easiest treatment you will ever do.  Lightly spritz the hair with water (it should be just barely damp, NOT wet), rosewater or aloe juice, apply your favorite moisturizer and seal that in with oil.  Form a bun or large bantu knot and cover the bun with a scarf or section of nylon or microfiber.  Those without enough length to damp bun can replicate this practice by spritzing the hair and sealing it then tying it down with a dorag or scarf.  Damp bunning can be practiced as often as you see fit.  Those with enough length to master Tressbuzz' DAMP BUN SPIRAL SET can even use damp bunning as a styling method!  As with any form of ponytail make sure you are using the softest most hair-friendly scrunchies and hair ties (satin or microfiber).  Oil your ponytail holders and alternate hair placement frequently.  Don't think bunning has to be boring!  Try a side bun with a feather cord or a high knot with a silk flower.  Mix it up ladies.  Happy damp bunning!
